Meals — Delivered to the Door or Around a Table

What it is

The Older Californians Nutrition Program has fed seniors for 50+ years, through every county: home-delivered meals (at least 5 meals a week brought to the door, with a friendly wellness check) and congregate meals (hot lunches at senior centers — food plus company, which matters just as much).

Who can get it

Home-delivered: 60+ and it's hard to leave home or to shop/cook (spouse of any age may join). Group meals: 60+ (and spouse). No income test.

What it costs

Free. You're invited to contribute what you can, and the state's own rule says: "no eligible person will be denied a meal for choosing not to contribute."

How to start

  1. Call your Area Agency on Aging: LA County (800) 510-2020 · City of LA Dept. of Aging (213) 482-7252.

  2. Say "home-delivered meals" (or ask which senior center near you serves lunch — Glendale's Adult Recreation Center and the Pasadena Senior Center are both already in our directory).

  3. They'll take basic info and connect you to the provider for your neighborhood.

  4. On a Medi-Cal plan and just home from the hospital? Ask the plan about medically tailored meals — a CalAIM Community Support.
