Cityride — the City of LA's Ride Program for 65+
What it is
Cityride is the City of Los Angeles program that subsidizes rides for people 65+ and people with disabilities: shared Dial-A-Ride vans for trips up to 10 miles, big discounts on LA city taxis, and free DASH buses.
Who can get it
Age 65 or older, OR a qualified person with a disability, living in the City of LA (plus a few unincorporated pockets like Marina del Rey and Topanga — the program page has maps).
What it costs
You buy "fare value": $84 of ride credit costs $21 per quarter — $9 if you're low-income. Then: Dial-A-Ride trips $4 (or $2 in a group), taxis use up to $20 of credit per trip, DASH buses free with your card.
The honest part
Daily trip capacity is limited, and standby availability is very limited — book ahead.
How to start
Register online at register.cityride.net, by mail, or in the Cityride phone app.
Your Cityride card comes with the approval letter (mail applicants get $84 of credit already loaded).
To book a van: call the provider for your area 1–2 business days ahead — book the return trip at the same time. For medical trips, call 2 days ahead, between 2 and 5 pm.
Questions or lost card: (213/310/323/818) 808-7433.
